Set in the dramatic landscape of Garfagnana in northern Tuscany, Podere Còncori is a distinctive biodynamic winery in the municipality of Gallicano, near Lucca. Surrounded by forest and positioned between the Apennines and the Apuan Alps at around 300–400 metres above sea level, the estate benefits from steep vineyard sites, southern exposure and the cooling influence of the Serchio River, all of which help shape wines with freshness, finesse and a strong sense of place.
The story of Podere Còncori is rooted in family tradition and a love of hospitality. The estate traces its inspiration back to Luigi Da Prato, whose ambition to make wine began in the 1950s, while later generations developed the vineyard into a serious winemaking project. In 1998, the adventure in Gallicano truly began, bringing new life to land where there had been no nearby vineyard or winemaker for many miles.
Today, Podere Còncori is known for its biodynamic approach, working in harmony with nature and focusing on healthy soils, biodiversity and low-intervention winemaking. The estate’s vineyards sit on Miocene schistous soils with pebbles and silica-rich stone, helping produce expressive wines that reflect both the vineyard and the surrounding landscape. Syrah is a key focus here, alongside other varieties including Pinot Noir, Traminer and Chenin Blanc.
Visitors to Podere Còncori can enjoy more than just the wines. The estate offers tastings with lunch or by the glass, cellar visits, vineyard tours, aperitifs among the vines, and even cooking classes where guests can help make homemade pasta with sauces prepared from the estate’s own tomatoes. The vineyard also hosts private events, including birthdays and weddings, making it an appealing destination for wine lovers seeking an authentic Tuscan experience.
Podere Còncori is located at Loc. Concori 1, Fiattone, 55027 Gallicano (LU), Tuscany, and tours are available Monday to Saturday by arrangement.
